Mental Health Advocacy

mental health advocacy
I want to help with the improvement in our schools what career is this?

I see in the education system, counselors tend to not get involved much with the schools— doing advocacy, prevention programs, making sure children and parents are aware, making sure mental health is important in the home, school, and community. I obviously take pride in these things.
What career would be best for me, since I am so passionate in this!

My son has his masters in counseling

and is a high school guidance counselor,

any thing to do with the understanding of

the mind especially children in there developing

stages, and learning the whys of what humans

do is the first step in building a better tomorrow,

and what better tomorrow could there be than a

child sent on the right track in life, go for it, you

won’t be disappointed not mention, a lot of kids

will love you for it and what better compensation

is there? then that . . .

Within Our Reach: Ending the Mental Health Crisis

Within Our Reach: Ending the Mental Health Crisis

$9.99

In Within Our Reach: Ending the Mental Health Crisis, Rosalynn Carter and coauthors Susan K. Golant and Kathryn E. Cade render an insightful, unsparing assessment of the state of mental health. Mrs. Carter has been deeply invested in this issue since her husbandÂ’s gubernatorial campaign when she saw firsthand the horrific, dehumanizing treatment of people with mental illnesses. Using stories from her 35 years of advocacy to springboard into a discussion of the larger issues at hand, Carter crafts an intimate and powerful account of a subject previously shrouded in stigma and shadow, surveying the dimensions of an issue that has affected us all. She describes a system that continues to fail those in need, even though recent scientific breakthroughs with mental illness have potential to help most people lead more normal lives. Within Our Reach is a seminal, searing, and ultimately optimistic look at how far weÂ’ve come since CarterÂ’s days on the campaign trail and how far we have yet to go.

Mental Health: A Philosophical Analysis

Mental Health: A Philosophical Analysis

$205.52

Mental health issues are a growing concern in our modern Western society. This is part of an increasing interest in questions about health, quality of life, personal development, and selffulfilment. However, most of what has been written so far has had its focus on mental illness or disease, the negative side of the coin, and few attempts have been made to discuss more thoroughly, from a philosophical perspective, what it is to be mentally healthy. The present book is such an attempt. The authors aim is to analyze, philosophically, the notion of positive mental health. In so doing a number of ideas found in the literature are presented and discussed. The author also raises some important methodological questions. The final result of the analysis is a formal and a material reconstruction of the concept of positive mental health. The book will be of value to all professionals within the health care sector, in particular to psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and psychotherapists. It will also be of interest to philosophers and social scientists working with health questions. Author: Tengland, PerAnders/ Tengland, P.
